The multilevel parking facility at the MDDA commercial complex near the Clock Tower is used by an average of 1,000 vehicles daily.
However, lack of sanitation and workers of the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Nirman Nigam occupying some space here continue to pose problems.
According to parking manager Amit Chaudhary, many of the shopkeepers and visitors to the complex dump garbage which ends up in the basement parking area.
No dustbin has been placed in the parking area. “The labourers staying in the parking area also cause problems. In the past we have caught them trying to steal wheel discs and car covers from parked vehicles at night,” he said.
A total of 16 CCTV cameras have been installed at the parking and guards keep an eye on the parked vehicles during the day and night.
However, the lack of civic sanitation and other anomalies do pose a problem here.
During his visit to the commercial complex on Monday, the Urban Development minister Pritam Singh Panwar had pulled up officials for
anomalies and directed them to take necessary measures.
It remains to be seen whether the directions are executed as required.
