The Dehradun Bar Association president Rajeev Sharma, who has been appointed special officer by the Uttarakhand High Court to conduct inspections and submit a report on roadside encroachments in the State capital, has called a meeting with officials concerned here on Saturday.
It is worth mentioning here that on the directions of the High Court, the district administration had initiated a drive against encroachments on footpaths and roadsides in Dehradun on April 7.Scores of encroachments have been demolished so far along Rajpur Road and Chakrata Road as part of this drive.
Talking to The Pioneer, Sharma said, “In order to know about the present status of roadside encroachments in Dehradun, I have called a meeting with officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority, Public Works Department, District administration and the police on Saturday noon. The officials have been requested to attend the meeting along with necessary documents. Based on the information I receive from the officials, I plan to start inspecting the city roads and state of encroachment from Monday onwards.”
He further said since he was a practicing advocate, he would be able to give two-three hours daily for inspecting the city roads so it will take him some time to submit the report.
