Bank and land related forgery cases will be dealt with stringently under the relevant laws. Such cases are being reported almost daily in the State capital. Any person, be it a policeman involved in land or other forgery cases, will be booked under the laws, said Dehradun senior superintendent of police Sadanand Shankar Rao Date on Friday.

Date said that as per some police department reports, land and bank fraud cases are alarmingly on the rise. Complainants are registering reports, stating they are being conned   by the fraudsters, engaged in collecting money from them in the name of providing them with jobs or lands. This aside, the accused are securing loans to the tune of crores from the banks by submitting false documents, he said.

He had recently exposed a bank fraud wherein cases had been registered against around 40 persons in the police stations like Kotwali, Vasant Vihar and Raipur in the state capital. In this case, the accused had secured huge amount of loans for purchasing vehicles worth lakhs of rupees from the banks by submitting forged documents. Teams have been formed and they have been directed to arrest the absconders at the earliest, the SSP said.

In several police stations complaints related to land forgery have been reported. The police officers have been directed to act swiftly against the offenders, he said.

He further said that he had earlier conducted inquiry into the PG course admission controversy involving Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT), Jolly Grant. It was found that SOG members had sought to downplay the matter by suppressing the amount they are supposed to have recovered from the swindlers. He had recommended action against the faulty police officers, he stated.

“It is unfortunate that a few policemen who are supposed to responsive, proactive and transparent are intent on making quick bucks through wrong means. Such policemen found involved in such corruption cases will not be spared and would be booked under stringent laws by way of deterrent,” he warned.
