The Education department would ensure that no police personnel in uniforms enter the examination halls during the board examinations.

The Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad Ramnagar would conduct the board examinations in the state from March 27.  The education directorate has asked all the Chief Education Officers (CEO) and District Education Officers to ensure that the police personnel should not enter the examination halls as it affects the concentration of the students.

The Additional Director of Secondary education NK Bahuguna told The Pioneer the department has asked all its centres superintendents to strictly follow the instruction of not allowing the policemen in uniform inside the examination halls. The parents and the educationists in past had repeatedly raised the concern about the presence of uniformed policemen in the examination centres; their plea is that students get terrified by the presence of uniformed policemen.

The Section 144 is enforced around 200 yards of the board examination’s centres as per the norm and policemen guard the premises of the examination, it is sometimes seen that along with some visiting magistrate or flying squad the men in uniform enter the examination hall.  The State Commission for Protection of Child Right took up the issue and asked the Ramnagar based board to prevent the uniformed policemen from entering the exam halls.

However to prevent the mal practice of copying the policemen in civil dresses can enter examination halls.  During the board examinations in the year 2012 only 4 cases of copying were reported in Dehradun district while last year not even a single case was reported.
