The people of Uttarakhand have welcomed the recent decision of the Central Government to ban 59 Chinese apps in India. The locals see this ban as an opportunity which will give a chance and recognition to the Indian apps that get overlooked due to several popular Chinese apps on digital platforms besides minimising the risk of data theft from China. According to Rudrapur resident Neelam Paliwal, the government should have taken this decision years ago because apps like Tiktok are ruining the youth. “Tiktok is the most useless app which is affecting the young minds across the country. Almost every child makes tiktok videos.
When China itself does not allow various apps like Facebook and YouTube, why should we use their wasteful apps? I am sure after this decision, people will stop using Chinese products too in addition to these apps,” said Paliwal. Some people also described this decision to be incredibly helpful in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative ‘Vocal For Local’. They said that digital presence is quite important for almost everyone in the world, especially in the present time when avoiding social interaction seems like a protocol to be followed by everyone to live healthily. According to engineering student Ashok Joshi, the launch and development of good Indian apps can take the initiative ‘Vocal For Local’ to a new level. “It is important to promote the development and use of made in India apps so that we do not have to use foreign apps and benefit the rich countries of the world.
The digital presence is the future and therefore Indians should invest their time and intelligence to develop the quality apps too,” added Joshi.
However, some people said that the ban of the Chinese apps will hardly last in India. A few also opined that the decision of banning Chinese apps is just a spur of the moment decision by the government and soon all the apps will probably be available in India again.
