Bajrang Dal stages protest after temple gets damaged

Tension prevailed in the area between BHEL township and Ranipur after Bajrang Dal activists staged protest against the damage done to a Shiva temple during a demolition drive undertaken by the BHEL authority in the morning on Tuesday.

The activists blocked the road and demanded action against the BHEL management.

The Bajrang Dal activists said that stern action must be taken against the BHEL management for damaging the Shiva temple.

“The action was unwarranted as it hurt the religious sentiment of the people. We would not tolerate such highhandedness on the part of the BHEL authority,” said one of the agitators.

Speaking to The Pioneer on the matter, the Ranipur police station in-charge Sadhna Tyagi said, “The BHEL management carried out the demolition drive as a small Shiva temple had come up on the land under the ownership of BHEL. Other encroachments were also razed down during the drive. When the activists of the Bajrang Dal came to know that the temple  wasbeing demolished they turned up and staged a protest. Later they blocked the stretch from BHEL foundry gate towards Jwalapur. We sent force to free the road of the blockage. Things were brought under control and the traffic became normal on the road in the evening.”
