Chief Minster Vijay Bahuguna heard the grievances of party workers and leaders patiently at his camp office on Friday. To give enough time to the party, Chief Minister divided the gathering into 24 groups and gave around 20-30 minutes to the each group.
Talking to The Pioneer, Pithoragarh district Congress committee (DCC) president Mathura Dutt Joshi, who conveyed party workers’ grievance to the Chief Minister and State president, said there was an immediate need for resource mapping, We would then be able to bridge the gap between resource and expenditure. As we know that more than 70 per cent of the budget is spent on employees’ salary and perks. He also expressed serious concern on indiscipline because party workers contest or support Opposition candidate during election and later the leaders or workers are seen roaming along with party leaders.
During the meeting, Uttarakhand PCC president Yashpal Arya said there was a need to give respect to the party leaders and workers. Even there was a need to instruct District Magistrate or SSP to pay attention to the DCC president and Congress workers’ petition on priority basis. Indirectly, Arya has also advocated about portfolios, which Government distributes to oblige party leaders or workers who worked hard during election.
Chamoli DCC president Hari Singh Rawat said that Bijli, Pani and Ration are necessary to build rapport with public. As we know that people want enough ration, so the Government should give them ration at a price paid by the State pay to the Union Government. In place of giving enough ration Government, gives mere one kg rice at Rs 6 per kg. Do you think this ration will serve their purposeIJ He advised the State Government to give at least 30 kg rice at Central Government price. As we know in open market rice minimum price is Rs 30 per kg so PDC rice will help them a lot.
He also advised there is a need to strengthen block level Congress because neither Minister nor MlA pay attention after election.
He also alleged that in Chamoli district 18 power projects are in progress but they have not employed even 1800 people so people are facing cheated. Even they alleged that in Chamoli mining is banned so pace of development works have slow down so need to look into this matter.
Making sarcastic comment on Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line and Vidhan Sabha building in Chamoli district, Rawat said that if Government manages to begin the work on the railway line then we would definitely win the upcoming election otherwise situation would be harsher than recently concluded local body polls. He also alleged that Minister In- charge Pritam Singh Panwar has visited there twice in last 15 months.
Bageshwar DCC president Sunil Bhandari said that DM is not paying attention to the party workers even minister in charge Surendra Singh Negi has convened only one meeting in the district. Although he expressed thanks that Chief Minister Bahuguna spoke to the district DM over phone immediately and instructed to take care of party president.
