Bageshwar forest division gears up to deal with wildfire

Published on:

To prevent wildfire during the summer season ahead, Bageshwar forest division has set up as many as 27 crew stations across the district.

Each of these crew stations has been equipped with adequate manpower and the teams deployed in these crew stations will keep vigil.

Besides, the forest teams deployed in these crew stations will coordinate with the district headquarters so that the wildfire could be prevented effectively, said the officials concerned of the Bageshwar forest division.

With necessary firefighting measures being put in place, the forest personnel teams have been kept on alert, claimed the Bageshwar forest division officials.

However, firefighting measures being kept in place have failed to stop wildfire wreaking havoc with the forest property in Uttarakhand during summer season in the past.

Perhaps keeping this in view, Bageshwar forest division has focused on community participation in its campaign this season. Raising awareness among the people may prove useful in stopping wildfire from damaging forest, they said.

More so, it has also stressed on the need to disseminate information about wildfire among the schoolchildren.

At the same time, the district administration, Bageshwar has asked the forest department to strictly deal with those who cause the forest fire. Besides, it has also stressed the need to intensify patrolling during this period so that such fire is prevented in advance.
