Badrinath shrine closure ceremony begins

Published on:

The Badrinath shrine will be closed to the public from November 27 at 3:35 pm for the winters. The ceremonies accompanying closure of the portals began on Sunday with Ganesh puja and closing of the portals to the Ganesha shrine. On the second day after this, the ceremonial palanquins of Uddhav and Kuber reach Pandukeshwar, where they are worshipped ceremoniously at the Yogdhyan temple here till the portals of Badrinath are reopened for the public.

It is believed that while lord Badrinath is worshipped ceremoniously for six months, he is worshipped by divinities led by sage Narad at Badrinath during the winter. The rituals begin five days prior to the day of closure of the portals of this shrine for the winters.
