State BJP asked Chief Minister Harish Rawat to quit following the State Government’s notification issued to convert the newly constructed MlA hostel at Gairsain into a State guest house. “The State Government has been playing a vulgar game with the sentiments of the people who are eagerly awaiting the Government’s decision to declare the place as the permanent capital of the State. We want the CM to resign after it is clear that his Government is backtracking itself from the stand it has taken earlier. The Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal should follow suit as he kept on dishing out false promise on the matter,” said the State BJP chief and the leader of the Opposition. He further demanded the State Government to clear its stance on what they intend to do with the Assembly being erected there.
“Congress Government since 2012 has been playing with the collective emotion of the people. For instance, on November 3, 2012, they had a Cabinet meeting held at Gairsain. It was followed by it unveiling the foundation stones of the Vidhan Sabha and MlA hostel on January 14, 2013. Again on November 9, 2013, the Speaker presided over rituals for the construction of the two buildings at Bharadisain. They followed it with holding a three-day session of the Assembly in the premises of an institution between June 9 and 11 , 2014. Again, a two- day session was held between November 2 and 3, 2015. However, now, they have done a volte face as the state government has issued a notification 1541/Xxii-2-2015-4(29)/2015 dated December 1, 2015, saying that except during session, the MlAs hostel will be used as state guest house with its tariff being fixed separately,” Bhatt said.
He cited the CM as saying that he was engaged in firming up a roadmap to make Gairsain the capital of Uttarakhand. “It stands contrary to what they have done now. Things are exposed. They were playing a cruel ball game on the emotive issue. If the CM has any shame left he should quit right now,” the BJP leader said.
He charged the Speaker with betraying the cause too, saying that he kept harping on the tune of Gairsain being declared the capital of Uttarakhand. “However, he has chosen to indulge in falsehood following the publication of the notification. He is claiming that he is not aware of it. He should resign too,” the State BJP leader affirmed.
He said the same thing is discernible regarding the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session in Raipur too. “On one hand, the Chief Minister is saying that he would convene an all- party meeting to decide the nitty gritties of the upcoming Raipur Vidhan Sabha and, on the other, he has instructed PWD to release Rs60 crore to the forest department against the land where the session is to be held. The question is- when he has already instructed to the officials to pay land acquisition money under net purchase value (NPV) why he is indulging in such cheap political stuntIJ” Bhatt asked.
He further said that the state government has made payment to the contractors on the pattern of Delhi government which is five to six times higher than the prescribed rate of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha. “Such exorbitant rates have been followed because the relatives of some influential Congress leaders have been given works to supply materials in Gairsain,” the BJP leader alleged.
