While hailing the move of the Narendra Modi government to scarp 500 and 1000 currency notes to cleanse the Indian economy of the curse of black money, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev said Modi was the first Prime Minister of free India to embark on a surgical strike against the Kubers of black money.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Baba Ramdev said, “We all know that black money worth Rs 100 lakh crores is running in the parallel market. Besides, 84% of the currency notes floating in the markets is in the denomination of 500 and 1000. It was thus an imperative to strike at the black economy through striking off the 500 and 1000 currency notes.”
He further said it was a blow to Pakistan too, the fount of terrorism. “The fake currency notes being pumped in by Pakistan are in the same denominations,” he said.
Asked to comment on the Congress which slammed the move, dubbing it an attack on the common people, he said that the corrupt were naturally upset over the move. “But the thing that matters is that the people from across the country and from all walks of life have lauded the move warmly,” the Baba added.
