The academy commandant also gave away recognition and awards to outstanding gentlemen cadets who excelled in various fields during their pre-commission training at the academy.
Addressing the gathering after the presentation, the commandant stressed on the importance for an officer to maintain a competitive streak while also remaining within the paremetres of sportsmanship and fair play at all times.
The commandant further stressed on the importance of the urge to win and excel as a team while adding that this spirit should always be there. In the profession of arms, it is always a collective and a team effort that is important and there are no runners up in war, added Saini.
It is pertinent to mention here that as per the IMA authorities, the ‘gentlemen cadets’ during their training at this noted institute are exposed to varied activities which also include weapon training, service and academic subjects along with the drill, physical training, sports, outdoor camps and extra-curricular activities. The officials State that these aspects of the training are aimed at making the gentlemen cadets battle ready and teach them necessary skills to execute varied responsibilities and operational tasks while maintaining professionalism during their service career.
The gentlemen cadets are also encouraged to strive towards the achievement of excellence at the individual level while also contributing constructively in team effort in order to infuse a sense of comradeship among them. Accordingly, medals and rolling trophies have been instituted at the IMA, which are stated to mark the highest standards achieved at the Individual and company levels.
