The sole large public ground in Nainital-the historical DSA ground is in a bad shape these days due to its commercial use. This ground is turned into a parking for tourist vehicles with the advent of the summer season. While this results in revenue generation in lakhs of rupees, all sporting activity on the ground is stopped during this period. Movement of vehicles on the ground also creates ditches on the ground which turn into puddles of varied sizes during the rains. Though summer season has gone and the rains have arrived, the local authorities have not been able to fill the ditches on this ground. This makes it difficult for people to even walk on this ground.
Despite the inconvenience being caused to the public due to the deteriorated condition of this ground, the authorities have remained apathetic so far.
