The ashes of the Bollywood superstar Sridevi were immersed here in the Ganga on Thursday. Earlier, an urn containing the ashes of the cine star who died in Dubai on February 24 was brought at the VIP Ghat near Har Ki Paidi by her husband Boney Kapoor, brother-in-law Anil Kapoor and family friend and Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh for immersion. After the immersion was over, the family members reached Harihar Ashram of Awdheshanand Giri and spent some time there.
Boney Kapoor went emotional during the time of the immersion. He was seen many a time fighting back tears.
The teerth purohit Shiv Kumar Paliwal performed the ash immersion rituals amidst chanting of Vedic hymns. Boney Kapoor wrote in the record book of family priests that he was feeling much peaceful after the final rituals were performed. He also wrote that the family is feeling forlorn following her untimely departure and she would continue to be kept in warm remembrance by the family forever.
