In support of their demands the agitating Asha workers staged a massive demonstration at the state secretariat on Tuesday. The agitators gathered at the parade ground and marched towards the secretariat where they squatted before the barricades.
The Asha workers demanded that their pending bonus should be released immediately. These basic health workers claim that the former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna had declared bonus for the Aaganwadi workers, Bhojan Matas (Mid Day meal cooks) and Asha workers but the Asha workers are yet to receive the bonus amount even though the Bhojan Matas and the Aaganwadi workers have got the bonus. The agitators demanded that the benefits of the Janshree Bima Yojna and Smart card scheme should be extended to the Asha workers as well.
