The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) chief Yashpal Arya has written to the chief electoral officer calling for the teaching and non teaching staff of DAV (PG) College to be exempted from poll duty for the lok Sabha elections 2014 stating that most of them are active members and position holders in some or the other political party.
In a letter to the CEO, Arya has stated that teaching and non teaching staff of the DAV (PG) College has been deployed on poll duty for the lok Sabha election 2014.
“All these teachers and employees are active members and office bearers in some or the other political party. Our party doubts whether they will be able to contribute towards facilitating an unbiased election process.
They have not been involved in any election process in the past. In observance of the Representation of the Peoples Act, 1951 and the model code of conduct, please do the needful to exempt them from the election duty for the lok Sabha election 2014 as in the past,” states Arya in the letter.
