The Education Minister, Arvind Pandey was felicitated by the association of guest teachers on Sunday.
The guest teachers organised a function to celebrate what they termed their victory as the Uttarakhand High Court had recently directed the Government that services of guest teachers working on the vacant posts of lecturer Teacher (lT) should be reinstated till March 2018. Addressing the guest teachers the education minister Pandey said that they should work to nurture the future of poor children getting education in the Government schools.
He said that the Government would take care of the guest teachers and asked them to work dedicatedly. The President of the association Vivek Yadav lauded the efforts of education minister in ensuring a positive judgement from the court.
He said that the education department under leadership of the minister put the case of the guest teachers in a remarkable manner in the court. Yadav said that the guest teachers would give their best services to improve academic environment in the schools of the state. Prior to the arrival of the minister the leaders of the association pledged that the struggle of guest teachers would continue. In a massive show of strength large number of guest teachers from different parts of the State assembled in the function.
The guest teachers were appointed for a period of nine months or end of the acadmic session on purely contractual basis in the year 2015. When their contract was terminated in march 2016 they started a massive agitation which forced the then Congress Government to reinstate their services.
The order was however challenged in the court which cancelled their reinstatement. The matter then went to bench of HC which recently asked the State Government to initiate a proper recruitment process to fill vacant posts of teachers in the Government schools.
The court meanwhile granted temporary relief to the guest teachers working on posts of lTs and allowed them to work till March 2018. Following the order the State Govt redeployed about 1600 guest teachers.
