large number of officers and soldiers belonging to armed forces are enrolled in various courses of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and they are getting top class distance education, said the Regional Director of IGNOU Dr Anil Kumar Dimri at an “Admission and Awareness Camp” at Clement town area here on Friday.
He said that the armed forces personnel face many problems in completing higher education and IGNOU is the right forum for them in their pursuit of higher studies. Dimri said that since many jawans join Army after doing class X the six months BPP course is important for them as after completing it they can enroll themselves in the graduate courses.
Elaborating the courses offered by the IGNOU Dimri said that apart from doing BA, B.Com, B.Sc, and MA one can also peruse carrier oriented diploma and certificate courses. He said that that courses like Disaster Management, prevention of Human Trafficking, Human Rights, Rural Development, Environment, Tourism, International Human rights, Women Empowerment , Journalism and cyber laws are available in IGNOU.
