Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) has given in-principle approval of works amounting to Rs 116.27 Crore for Capital Investment for Renovation and Modernisation of Dhakrani Hydro Electricity Project (HEP) (3 X 11.25 MW).

Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam limited (UJVNl) had filed a Petition for prior approval of Capital Investment for Renovation & Modernisation of Dhakrani HEP (3 X 11.25 MW) amounting to approx. Rs 137.3 Crores (including IDC) before the UERC. The proposed works are broadly categorized into Hydro-Mechanical Works, Mechanical Works, Electrical Works, Automation & Control System and other works. After detailed scrutiny of the Petition, the Commission on 27.06.2017 has given in-principle approval of works amounting to Rs 116.27 Crore (including IDC). The rationales of the Commission for approving the said Petition were as the Power Station will regain its original capacity of 3X11.25 MW (33.75 MW) alongwith extended life of approximately 35 years; the reliability of the Plant will increase due to replacement of worn out components and installation of new state of the art technologically advanced equipments and increase in generation due to reduction in plant down time, informed UERC Secretary Neeraj Sati.
