The Uttarakhand High Court (HC) has directed the state Government to appoint regular teachers in the vacant posts. The court has allowed the guest teachers deployed on the post of lecture Teachers (lT) to continue working till March 2018. Quashing the special petition of guest teachers on Tuesday the court directed the Government to recruit permanent teachers. Challenging the appointment of guest teachers Mamta Pant and others had submitted a petition in which they said they possess the necessary qualification for teacher but the state Government has appointed guest teachers on the vacant posts. On the petition single bench asked the Government to appoint regular teachers and remove guest teachers. The order of single bench was challenged by the guest teachers. In their appeal guest teacher lalit Singh and others said that their services should be extended as they are appointed by a Government order and all of them have necessary qualification. On Tuesday the bench of Chief Justice KM Joseph and Justice Alok Singh quashed the appeal of guest teachers and ordered the Government to appoint regular teachers. It however allowed the guest teachers working on lT posts to continue till March 2018 but those working on posts of lecturers were given no such reprieve.
