Community health centre at laskar lacks all basic health facilities which are supposed to be essential for a health centers. litters, garbage, rotten food particles and dressing bandages are being thrown hither and thither, turning the place into ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes and flies.
Residents say the apathetic officials are turning the CHC laskar into garbage dumping yard, making them vulnerable to health hazards.
It is pertinent to mention that there are eight community health centres (CHC) and 25 primary health centres (PHC) across the district. The CHC laskar housed on government land is equipped with 30 beds. Notably, some of PHCs of the district are being run in buildings taken on rent due to non- availability of proper lands and budget.
People say CHC laskar is the only government hospital in the block catering to the population of over one lakh. There is no cleaning facility to clear litters, garbage, rotten food particles and dressing bandages of the premises.
Things are pitiable. Ceiling fans are not functioning. Some of the electrical boards are found hanging precariously. Wires are hanging out in the open, seemingly inviting the people to get electrocuted. Conditions of the female and the delivery wards are equally bad.
Sonu Kumar, husband of one Kalawati who had recently given birth to a baby said that sweeping is done once a week. Toilets are stinking, she rued.
It is learnt that if any of the patients dares to complain about the same to the Medical Officer cum In-charge (MoIC), the ward attendants threaten him.
MoIC Dr Arun Verma, however, rubbished the charges, saying that all the available health facilities are being provided to the patients of the state-run facility.
However, a visit there would prove that the contrary of what he claims is the reality.
