To put check on illegal mining activities in the riverbeds areas of Haridwar, Haridwar police has formed Anti Mining striking Squad comprised of Inspector, sub-inspector and quick response team (QRT).
This squad will be headed by CO Rajesh Bhatt. Haridwar police said that this squad will be vigilant in illegal mining prone areas of the district and members would launch drive against illegal mining activities apart from taking action against illegal mining operators from time to time. This squad has recently launched drive in Buggawala area and seized two JCB machines, 14 trucks, one tractor trolleys; three dumpers allegedly quarried illegal minerals. But truck drives managed to escape from the scene.
