Reacting sharply to the state BJP chief Ajay Bhatt tearing into the previous Harish Rawat Government while supposedly committing a gaffe in the time period he mentioned, the spokesperson of the former Chief Minister Harish Rawat Surendra Kumar said the BJP leader must explain whether he was targeting the Governor in his plunder of the state exchequer allegation.
“The Governor was the ruler of the state that was under the Central rule during the time he specified,” he said. He further said that the mining and liquor mafias are with the BJP now. “Instead of battering the Congress with such frivolous charges that are reducing them to ridicule, the BJP leaders should disclose the mining lease the party had allotted to the miners taking advantage of the President’s Rule. They must now answer why the farmers are committing suicide despite the state being driven by a double-engine government,” he said. He also advised the State Finance Minister Prakash Pant to refrain from dishing out false and fabricated data. “This is happening at regular intervals,” he said. While batting for the previous Harish Rawat-helmed Uttarakhand government, he said that the state had achieved 17 percent growth in revenue collection while the industrial development was 16.5 percent, state GDP was 11 percent and even the Union government’s assistance growth was 19.5 percent,” Kumar said, adding that the present government should rather be thankful to its predecessor for providing it with a sound financial condition of the State.
