Another four days for disruption-free internet

large number of BSNl customers in the State capital are facing problem of frequent internet disruption for the last few days. BSNl officials attributed the disruption to short circuit developing in a machine around five days ago.

Things would be restored soon as repair work is going on a war-footing, said SS Rauthan, Sub Divisional Engineer at Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited (BSNl) office Dilaram Chowk on Tuesday. However, department sources said that the BSNl engineers would take another four days to restore the internet services in all the areas in the State capital.

The customers of many areas of Dehradun like Rajpur, Dilaram Chowk, Salawala and Karanpur are unable to access the internet as BSNl network was affected due to electrical short circuit at Dilaram Chowk. The internet and calling services of BSNl have remained disrupted in many areas in Dehradun for the past five days. However, things were worst on Sunday.

Meanwhile, routine works in Government and private offices have also been affected due to loss of internet connectivity. Many internet café dependent on BSNl broadband services remained closed in the State capital.

SS Rauthan said that the actions to restore the services have been started on a war-footing basis. The services are likely to be restored very soon.

Ramesh Semwal, a consumer, said that as the internet has become an essential service these days, the authorities must come out with public notice on the status of the service. Customers have every right to know when they can get the access.

Sohan lal, resident of Salawala. said, ” I am fed up with irregular internet supply. As I run a private firm, I have secured internet service of another company to use it in case of emergency.”

Urmila said that in the current scenario, the works in government and private offices are highly dependent on internet services. Due to department’s officials’ negligence, customers are suffering due to lack of information about restoration of internet services, she said. The customers should be properly updated about timing of disruption of internet services and its restoration, she added.
