Another Delhi-based doc complain against HIHT

Published on:

One more Delhi-based doctor has approached Dalanwala police regarding admission controversy dogging the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust on Thursday.  Police may register an FIR regarding same soon.

Earlier, a Talangana-based doctor Dr K Tarun had registered a case under Sections 418/419-420/406 of IPC against some persons, including Delhi natives Rajeev Rana, Rohit Chauhan and some others- Ankush Khatri, Sudhakar and Sandeep Gupta- in Dalanwala police station on Wednesday night.

In his written complaint, Dr Tarun stated that he had paid Rs 29 lakh for admission in MD Pulmonology course in HIHT. However, he neither got admission nor had his money back, he complained.

In another twist to this case, SP, Police headquarters Dr Sadanand Date, who was in-charge of SIT formed by State police to crack the case, has been relieved. The SP, Police Headquarters, Janmejaya Khanduri has been appointed as new SIT in-charge of this case.

Dalanwala police station inspector Anil Kumar Joshi said that previously Karnataka-based doctor Dr Shivdarth Kulkarni had  stated that he had paid  Rs 64 lakh for admission in MD Dermatology course in HIHT. Similarly, a Delhi- based doctor Dr Amardeep Kumar had registered a report, stating he had paid Rs 46 lakh to these swindlers for admission in PG course in HIHT.

State Director General of Police BS Sidhu had recently dissolved Special Operation Group (SOG), formed to investigate the PG course admission case involving HIHT. SIT in-charge Dr Date had conducted inquiry over this issue and submitted report to him.

According to the top cop of the State, its members had sought to downplay the matter by suppressing the amount they are supposed to have recovered from the swindlers. It is also learnt that SOG had not brought the senior police officers on board regarding the progress of the probe into the scam.  Dehradun SP Rural Manikant Mishra was transferred and attached to police headquarters as police suspect he was involved in the SOG’s suppression move.  SSP Pushpak Jyoti was issued warning over his inaction over the issue despite junior police officer having informed him.
