Anomalies in MCD tender process, claims Ad agency

Published on:

A company which was not allowed to participate in the tender process for advertisement hoardings of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun has continued to allege anomalies in the process while the Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli has stressed that even though the tender process was transparent with little scope for anomalies, he had already ordered an inquiry into the allegation.

Meanwhile, the Urban Development department too has already ordered an inquiry into the allegations of anomalies in the tender process. It is pertinent to mention here that the MCD has 191 uni-poles for advertisement hoardings along various city roads.

The tenders submitted for four companies were opened on March 27 while one local company was not allowed to enter the tender process for not meeting the criteria. The MCD had set the value of the 191 uni-poles for a period of two years at Rs5.84 crore with the Rs5.90 crore tender of the Delhi based Media 24 into 7 company being selected.

It was initially alleged that the companies participating in the tender process had formed a pool to manipulate the process for their own gains at the cost of municipal revenue. Proprietor of the Himgiri Media Solutions, which was not allowed to enter the tender process alleged that the grounds for rejection were invalid.

The Urban Development department and Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli have already ordered inquiries into the allegations of anomalies in the tender process. The Mayor said the process had been conducted in a transparent and fair manner but he had still ordered an inquiry into the allegations.

According to sources, the local builder lobby along with some councillors in the MCD are believed to be making the allegations purportedly in order to benefit the builder lobby. However, Chamoli has said that in case the allegations are found to be true, the tender will be cancelled and the process will be started afresh. Those unable to participate in the process should complete their documentation in order to bid for the re-tender.
