The distribution of cooking gas cylinders facilitated by the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam here is affected by anomalies which the administration is ignoring instead of resolving. Tenders for lPG home delivery facility have not been done for the past many years in the Joshimath Gas Agency.
Due to this the vehicle used for home delivery of the cylinders does not even have a weighing scale due to which the customers are unable to ascertain whether the quantity being sold to them is proper or not.
locals allege that anomalies in the supply of cooking gas cylinders in Joshimath have been allowed to continue for years without necessary action being taken by the authorities. The customers are charged for home delivery but the cylinders are not home delivered.
When the customers approach the local administration the officials state that they are unaware of the issue. Joshimath additional District Magistrate AP Vajpai states that the consumers should file a case in the court to get their problem resolved. The locals question the use of administrative officials if the public has to approach the court for getting such problems resolved. They complain that whenever the people complain about civic problems, the officials tell them that they are unaware of the problems.
