A district convention of Anganwadi workers union was organised at Hindi Bhawan on Sunday. In the convention, Sheela Bahuguna and Meena Verma were elected as President and General Secretary respectively.
The convention was inaugurated by the state general secretary of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Virendra Bhandari. Speaking on the occasion he deplored the statement of Union Minister Maneka Gandhi in which she had advocated for not increasing the salary of Anganwadi workers. He said that the Government is determined to weaken the Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS). large number of Anganwadi workers of district participated in the one day convention.
