In support of their various demands, the Anganwadi workers of State held a demonstration at Secretariat here on Thursday. They gathered at old local bus stand near clock tower and marched towards the State secretariat where a contingent of policemen stopped them from proceeding. The workers squatted in front of the barricades and shouted slogans.
These workers are demanding that the State Government should hand over the work of take home ration meant for Mid Day Meal (MDM) scheme to some Non Governmental Organisation (NGO).
The workers claimed that the education department is taking more work from them then listed in their duties. The Anganwadi workers also want that they should be exempted from the works like handling of cash book of the MDM and distribution of MDM. The workers were addressed by Asha Rawat, Urmilla Chauhan and others.
