People will be able to know the location of ATM, petrol pump, hotel, restaurant, shops, drinking water, toilet, parking, bus stand, workshops and others from where they stay. They will also be able to know the mobile numbers of such institutions concerned. In case of emergency, people will be able to know the location and mobile numbers of police officers, helipad officials and other emergency service helpline. In case of landslides, they will know alternate routes to reach their destination. This system will help the department to mitigate the disaster, the officers concerned said. Weather related information will be provided through update option, they added.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat appreciated the officers for developing Shubh Badrinath Yatra Android based Mobile App to facilitate the people, especially pilgrims, who are having android mobile phones.
This system has been launched as pilot project in Chamoli and later it will be extended to the areas on Char Dham Yatra routes. In the plain areas, optical fiber is used for Wi-Fi and internet satellite will be needed for mountainous parts.
