About four days after local resident Anchal Kohli was found hanging from a noose at her home in Dehradun, the apparent case of suicide is also eliciting focus on the social media and local circles with her family alleging that she was murdered. She was found hanging from a noose at her apartment home in Pacific Hills apartments on Rajpur Road on February 14 after which her husband Rahul Pandhi informed the police. While the case was being prima facie being viewed as that of a suicide, the father of the deceased woman, Anil Kohli has registered a complaint and a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Rahul Pandhi, Kiran, Rachna and Indrani in the police station. Rajpur police station in-charge Pradeep Singh Rawat who is investigating the case said that according to the post mortem examination report, the cause of death was found to be hanging. Though no solid evidence has been found yet which may point towards the possibility of Anchal being murdered as alleged by her family, the police are looking through various angles while investigating this case, he added.

In the meantime, Anchal’s death has also come up on the internet with a Facebook page ‘Justice for Anchal’ being set up. This page had elicited  4,789 likes by Friday evening when the kith and kin of the deceased young woman gathered outside the Amrik Hall at Race Course for a prayer meet.
