Responding to Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah’s Uttarakhand visit, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay said that Shah’s visit amounted to rubbing salt on the wounds of the State’s people and insulting the followers of BR Ambedkar.
The PCC chief alleged that the BJP mentality had always been anti-dalit. Upadhyay said, “The manner in which the democratically elected Government in Uttarakhand was removed in a manner amounting to the murder of democracy would have pained Ambedkar. Till now the BJP and its leaders have not accorded respect to Ambedkar and opposed his ideology but now they are showing respect towards Ambedkar in order to achieve political benefit,” the PCC chief further opined.
