Amit Shah to visit Patanjali Yog Peeth today

BJP president Amit Shah would visit Patanjali Yog Peeth on Thursday to inaugurate the newly built second campus of Acharyakulum on National Highway near Patanjali Yog Peeth. He is scheduled to arrive at Acharyakulum helipad at 11 am from where he would proceed to the site of the residential school, informed the Patanjali Yog Peeth spokesperson S K Tijarawala on Wednesday.

After the inauguration, he would address thousands of Patanjali students, workers and staff members at Yog Bhawan in Patanjali Phase-2. Shah is also expected to participate in the ongoing RSS convention on the development model for India being organised at the BHEL convention hall during his stay in Haridwar.

Following its humble beginning on April 26 2013 with just class V, Acharyakulum has come a long way since.

In this academic session, Ayush Sharma scored second position in the State in CBSE board examination. This residential educational institute is known for blending the age- old tradition of education on the line of the hoary institution of Gurukulums conceived by the Rishis and the ultra–modern scientific, professional and IT–enabled modern education system.

According to the functionaries of the institution, the students at Acharyakulum, studying Vedas alongside, have scored over 99% in 10th standard CBSE board exams. “In Acharyakulum, we have world class residential facility for about 2000 students.

During the inauguration of the new campus by the BJP president, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the RSS veteran Bhaiyyaji Joshi besides Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna and many other saints would be present,” said a senior functionary of the institute.

It is learnt that Amit Shah would stay at Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar for two days during which he would  visit Acharyakulum, Patanjali Vishva-Vidhyalya, Patanjali Research Institute, Patanjali Yog Peeth, Vedic Gurukulam, Vedic Kanya Gurukulam, Yog Gram and Patanjali Food Park among others.

It is further learnt that the inauguration of Acharyakulum’s new campus would commence at 12 pm on September 27.

After the inauguration, the leaders and dignitaries who would be present would address the members of Patanjali and others who would come from across the country to attend the programme.

Visit part of poll preparation

However, the observers are attaching political significance to Amit Shah's two-day visit.

According to them, it is part of the saffron party’s electoral plan for the high-stake 2019 general election to involve Swami Ramdev and his followers into the electioneering which is likely to assume a shrill edge, given the attempt of opposition consolidation against the saffron camp.
