Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Dr Saroj Pandey, who is also the in-charge of Mahasampark Abhiyan, said in Dehradun on Saturday that Congress leaders should do soul-searching instead of tearing into the NDA Government. “The party that ruled the country for 10 years reduced governance to bogs of corruption and policy paralysis. The same is happening now in Uttarakhand under Congress rule. The people threw them out from the Centre and brought our Government in. In the State, the same would happen. We are rising up to the mounting expectations of the people. While saddled in power in Uttarakhand, our Government did everything possible to uplift it developmentally. We need no certificate from Congress on the count of governance,” she said.  Mahasampark Abhiyan in the State will be launched by BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday.

Pandey who addressed the members at State-level Mahasampark Abhiyan workshop held at BJP Mahanagar office here said that the party is focused on organisational work and welfare of the people of the country. Among around 1,600 political parties operating in the world, BJP has the highest number of its members that stands at around 10.83 crores. The figure excludes the number of Parliamentarians and representatives of three-tier Panchayat system. Here also we are ahead of others,” she affirmed.

She said the party workers would reach out to the people across the country to acquaint them with what the BJP-led NDA Government has achieved in one year. “The Government would compete one year of its tenure on May 26. We would celebrate it through mass contact programme to highlight what the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done in one year. Aside from providing a new roadmap for development, the Government has considerably boosted India’s international standing with Modi visiting several countries, taking India’s message of goodwill and friendship,” Pandey said.

lauding the Centre for taking initiatives to better the lot of the women in the country, the BJP leader said more are on the anvil. Dwelling on the party’s Jansampark Abhiyan (mass contact programme) that started from May 1 and will continue till July 31, she said the party activists would go to the residence of every person who has become a party member through giving missed calls. “We have almost 10.83 crores members who joined us through a missed call system,” said Pandey.

“The first phase ended with crores enrolling as our members. The second phase of campaign-which started on Friday and would continue till July 31-would help more to enroll themselves as members. In the third phase, around 15 lakh active party members would be given training and ideological orientation,” she said. State president Tirath Singh Rawat aside from Ex CM Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt, Tehri Garhwal MP Maharani Mala Raj laxmi Shah, Shyam Jaju, Gyan Singh Negi, Kedar Joshi, Umesh Aggarwal, Khajan Das and Sushila Baluni were among those present on the occasion.
