At a time when factionalism within the Congress in Uttarakhand appears to show no signs of abating, the All India Congress Committee general secretary and Uttarakhand party in-charge Ambika Soni and party’s State co-in-charge Sanjay Kapoor are slated to arrive in Dehradun on Monday.

According to the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyaya, Soni and Kapoor will review the disaster relief and rehabilitation works, Kedarnath reconstruction works and also discuss various issues with senior party leaders and activists in Dehradun on Monday. The duo will address the media in the afternoon and later also hold a meeting with Congress members.

On Tuesday the Panchayat representatives from the Congress will hold a discussion with chief minister Harish Rawat after which he will leave for Delhi on the same day. On November 5, a meeting will be held with the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi. It should be mentioned here that earlier the Panchayat representatives were slated to meet the chief minister on November 2 after which the meeting with the party’s central leadership was slated to be held in New Delhi on November 3. However, the schedule was amended in view of Devotthani Ekadashi.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand Rajya Nirman Andolankari Samman Parishad vice chairman Dhirendra Pratap expressed hope that the imminent election to the Rajya Sabha, Congress membership campaign in Uttarakhand, organisational elections and the issue of reshuffle in the State cabinet would also be discussed during Soni’s Dehradun visit.
