Amar Singh lashes out at Akhilesh

Veteran political leader and Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh lashed out at the SP-BSP alliance just stitched in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the  general election. He said that the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav is engaged in making a mockery of his father just to satisfy his greed for power. “I wonder whether the BSP supremo Mayawati is ready to withdraw the case she filed against  Akhilesh Yadav’s father. The case has been pending now in the Supreme Court,” he said. The veteran leader who was in the SP for years was in Haridwar on Tuesday.

Quizzed over the recently stitched poll alliance between the arch rivals, Singh cast question on its morality. “Alliance is like a marriage and there is no place for dispute in marriage. If there is any dispute, the married life is bound to be troubled. So, it must be cleared whether the BSP supremo has agreed to withdraw the case she lodged against Mulayam Singh Yadav which is now pending in the Supreme Court,” he said.

He also hit out at Akhilesh, saying that he must make it clear whether the charge levelled by Mayawati against his father was justified or not. “In the five year tenure of SP,  Akhilesh did nothing to lift the blemish hanging on the head of his father for years,” he said.

“It is therefore clear that the son has sacrificed his father’s honour on the stake of power,” he said. Casting doubt over the political justification of the alliance for SP, he said, “SP did much better than BSP during the polls held when the former was passing through a difficult patch. Now SP clinging to BSP amounts to defeatism on the part of SP.

This is most unfortunate. Son sacrificing honour of his father in desperation for power would go down as a very bad precedent for the political life of the country,” Singh said.
