Former Governor of Mizoram, lieutenant General Ml lakhera (Rtd) has called for support to the independent candidates with clean and honest image for ensuing Assembly elections. He also declared setting up of an organisation ‘Alternate for You’ (A4U) which would select and support such independent candidates.
Addressing the mediapersons here on Thursday, lt Gen lakhera said that a serious attempt to bring in all political parties of Uttarakhand sans Congress and BJP under one umbrella to usher in a political change in the State was made by some concerned citizens including him. But, after holding several round of talks the initiative failed. He said that then a decision to set up A4U was taken to bring political change in the state whose people in last 16 years of its establishment has witnessed a heinous game of power and political one upmanship.
let Gen lakhera said that the organisation would bring in the honest and hardworking political workers under its fold.
The organisation has appointed senior counsel BP Nautiyal to prepare the constitution of the entity. The organisation plans to hold several meetings in places like Gairsain, Srinagar, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Haldwani, Udham Singh Nagar and Roorkee in coming days. On November 20 a Kumaon convention at Haldwani by statehood activist Manoj Dhyani would be organised.
