Expressing concern over poor utilisation of fund allocated under different plans including the district and State plans and centrally sponsored schemes, the district administration, Almora, has directed the officials concerned to ensure utilisations of 80 per cent of the fund released to them by end of September.

Reviewing the progress of various developmental projects on Thursday, Akshyat Gupta, District Magistrate, Almora, also sought an explanation from the Jal Nigam within a week for non utilisation of fund released to it for carrying out developmental works. In case of noncompliance of the order in this case necessary steps will be  taken against the officials concerned of Jal Nigam, asserted the District Magistrate, Almora.

Poor utilisation of fund even after release of the same is a serious matter and that only reflects carelessness on part of the officials concerned, further said Gupta, warning those officials who have so far not been able to spend as much fund on the developmental projects assigned to them as expected.

He also suggested the officials concerned of various executive departments to prepare working plan on time and  according to the expenditure so that the fund  utilisation process could be expedited and the developmental works could be completed on time. The matter of fact is that completion of the ongoing developmental projects on time is a must so that benefits of these works could reach the citizens even in remote and rural areas, maintained the District Magistrate, Almora.

At the same the district administration, Almora, has also emphasised on the need to ensure physical verification of the developmental works which are being done under the 20-point programme in the district. Reviewing the progress of the 20-point programme, the District Magistrate, Almora asked the nodal officers concerned to expedite the physical verification process of the developmental works.
