The unemployed youths of the State who are getting the benefit of Employment cum Skill Development Allowance (Unemployment Allowance) should verify their status at the employment office before April 30.
This allowance is given by the State Government to the unemployed youths belonging to 25 to 42 years age group.The Deputy Director Training and Skill Development, Subhash Kumar told The Pioneer that the youths should fill up a form mentioning their present employment status, if they are still unemployed they should submit an affidavit on a stamp paper of `10.He said that the allowance given to these youths would be continued only after verification of their employment status. The Uttarakhand Government started the scheme to give the allowance to the unemployed youths who are registered in the employment offices for more than one year and with an annual family income of less than `2.5 lakhs in December 2012.
The intermediate pass unemployed youth is entitled an allowance of `750, the graduate `1,000 and the Post graduates are entitled an allowance of `1500 per month under the scheme. The State Government has increased the budget allocated for this allowance from `12.50 crores in the financial year 2013-14 to `18 crores for the year 2014-15.
It is pertinent to mention here that the employment offices across the State witnessed a surge in registrations after the Government announced the scheme of allowance for the unemployed youths.
