In an interesting turn of things, the owner of a news channel, Umesh Kumar has thrown a dare to the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat by seeking permission from the administration to show the purported sting of the Chief Minister and his close aides on Parade Ground.
In a letter written to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, Nivedita Kukreti, Kumar cited the CM having recently dared the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Indira Hridayesh to show any sting operation footages she might possesses of the CM or any of his relatives as claimed by her on the big screen at Parade Ground.
Kumar further mentioned in the letter that in response to the CM’s statement, Hridayesh had said that as she had just copy of the sting, it would be shown by those who had the full sting. In the letter, Kumar said that he had accepted the challenge and was ready to show it. He said that if given permission, he would show the sting operation at Parade Ground and it would expose the real face of the zero tolerance policy of the State Government.
Contacted by The Pioneer, SSP Dehradun Nivedita Kukreti said that she was yet to receive the letter. She, however, added that she had come to learn about the letter written by Umesh Kumar from the social media.
It is pertinent to mention here the Uttarakhand police acted on the complaint of an employee of Samchar Plus who had been allegedly pressured by Kumar to have a sting operation of CM of Uttarakhand. Umesh Kumar was arrested on October 28 from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier in 2016, Umesh Kumar had sparked a political storm when he aired a sting operation of then Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
