In an alleged gangrape case registered against a police officer under the jurisdiction of Jwalapur police station, the police gave a clean chit to the officer on Sunday morning on the grounds that the purported victim of the alleged crime could not be found.

Declaring it to be a fake case lodged by a woman from Jwalapur who used to sell illicit liquor along with her two aides, the police have dropped the case.

A woman who allegedly sold illicit liquor in Jwalapur, had alleged that she and her daughter were raped by three people including a sub-inspector of Jwalapur police station, following which a complaint was lodged on December 28 last year but the police had not disclosed the issue to media. The complaint letter said that the accused had been assaulting her for several months and they raped her daughter in front of her.

When the woman opposed this, she was threatened by the officer of dire consequences in case she revealed it to anyone.

When the complaint was sent to a senior police officer, a probe into the allegation was initiated.

The accused officer was given transfer order from Jwalapur to Pathri police station. On the instructions of ADG law and order Ashok Kumar, the district police lodged the case against the Sub inspector Pradeep Kumar under sections 376, 323 and 506 along with two other accused Ishwar Chand and Anil Kumar.

Two women inspectors were engaged in locating the house of the victims but no victim was found. The police station in charge of Jwalapur Amarjeet Singh told The Pioneer that SI Sandeepa Bhandari was given the charge of investigation.

She tried to locate the victims to record the statements but no one could be found. later SI Meena was given the charge of probe.
