All Uttarakhand Parents' Association threatens State Govt

Published on:
Expressing doubts over the intention of the State Government to constitute a regulatory authority for private schools, the All Uttarakhand Parents’ association has threatened to start a massive agitation if the State Government do not gives adequate representation to the parents in the drafting committee of the proposed regulatory authority.
The office bearers of different schools of the association met here on Monday and discussed their future strategy. The members of the association said that no progress is being visible on ground despite repeated assurances of the State Chief Minister and education minister to rein in the private school operators. The State President of the association Neeraj Singhal said that the private schools are continuing with their tactics of harassment of the parents of their students.
He alleged that private school operators are not following the norms while giving admission to poor students under universal Right to Education (RTE). Singhal said that many schools have given admission to affluent people under RTE marring the prospects of actual poor in the process.
