The authorities of the associated hospital of Doon Medical College (DMC) are claiming that the team of Medical Council of India (MCI) would be satisfied with the status of the hospital in its ensuing visit as they have rectified all the shortcomings listed by the apex body of medical education during their last visit.
It is worth mentioning here that the team of MCI which had visited the college and associated hospital of DMC on January 05 and 06 had listed many shortcomings in facilities and asked the authorities to get them rectified soon.
It is learnt that the apex body had listed a total of 27 minor and major objections in the hospital of the medical college. The Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital Dr K K Tamta claimed that the hospital has taken corrective measures on the entire objection. He said that 94 percent of the faculty positions are now fulfilled. The team had objected on congested OPDs and less number of Operation Theaters (OT) during its visit. Dr Tamta said the hospital now has six major and two minor OTs while the requirement is four major and two minor. He claimed that all the norms of a Central Sterilization Store Department (CSSD) before the OT have been adhered to. Dr Tamta also said that the hospital has also created units in different departments and assigned beds for in house patients.
The hospital has allotted 180 beds for Surgery and allied departments while given 120 beds for Medicine and allied departments of the hospital. He informed that the hospital now has thirteen ventilators while it had only six such machines earlier.
The MS of the hospital said that the hospital wards are now adhering to the specification of having a space of 1.5 meters between two beds. He also said that the hospital now has 22 demo rooms as required by the MCI. Dr Tamta said that a rehabilitation clinic and well baby clinic are now part of the hospital.
The erstwhile Doon hospital and Doon women hospital were amalgamated into an associated hospital of DMC by the state government and the MCI team reportedly found maximum shortcomings here during its visit in January.
