Intent on making the emotive issue of carving out new districts a principal poll plank of the Bharatiya Janata Party, its state president Ajay Bhatt demanded the state government to go for the constitution of new districts promptly.
In a statement issued to the media on Monday, Bhatt said that the insensitive chief minister has been dangling carrots of the new districts to lure the voters for some time instead of going for the official announcement.
He said that the CM should immediately constitute four districts as announced by the then BJP- led state government. Then government had issued notification too regarding the matter, he said, adding that the Congress- led government that replaced it had chosen to consign the notification in the back-burner. He further pledged his party’s support in case the state government went ahead to carve more districts than the already announced four.
Tearing into the state government for releasing prisoners from the jails on long- duration paroles, Bhatt said that it is meant to unleash an atmosphere of terror in the run-up to the election. “As far as the space crunch facing the jails is concerned they can shift prisoners from one jail to another. But releasing hardened criminals is bound to invite trouble in the poll-bound state,” the state BJP chief said.
