Sounding appreciative of the Union budget, State BJP president Ajay Bhatt said on Wednesday that it was a people- friendly and development- oriented budget.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken ample care of the interests of all the classes, particularly, the middle class and the weaker section, he said.
“Union budget-2017-18 being dedicated to the cause of the farmers, youth, middle class and weaker sections, it would go a long way in bringing about a new epoch of inclusive development. The proposal to reduce the existing rate of taxation for individuals with income ranging between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to 5% instead of 10% is a great step forward,” Bhatt said.
“Besides, the Union finance minister has curtailed taxes on other necessary goods, lightening the burden of the weaker section and the middle class people. Focusing on agriculture, industry, employment generation and education is another good point of the budget.
He vowed to double the farmers’ income in the next five years. Skill development centres would come up. Relief would be given to the senior citizens,” he said.
He further said that Congress and other Opposition parties were responsible for the Union government having failed to announce state-specific development projects. “However, we hope that the people would rally behind PM Narendra Modi who is known to nurture a special affection for Uttarakhand,” he said.
