AIIMS entrance exam to be held on May 29

While the Supreme Court (SC) has ordered that admissions in all Government and private medical colleges of the country would be based solely on performance in National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) only, the candidates seeking admissions in prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) need to give the exclusive examination scheduled later this month. The AIIMS entrance examination does not come under the purview of the SC order on NEET because the seven AIIMS of the country are not governed by the provisions of Medical Council of India (MCI).

For admissions in seven AIIMS of the country, an entrance examination would be held on May 29 and there is some confusion among the aspirants about fate of this examination in wake of SC order. The Managing Director of Achievers classes, Manu Pant said that since the SC order on NEET does not mentions the examinations of AIIMS, those who have applied for its entrance examination should be prepared for it. There are 672 seats in the seven AIIMS located at New Delhi, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, Bhopal and Bhuvneshwar. The entrance examination for these prestigious medical education institutes is conducted by the AIIMS, New Delhi.
