The aviation sector has always been a great industry for job seekers. Pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, cabin crew, technicians, ground deputy service officers and marketing personnel are some of the popular positions in the aviation industry. Working as cabin crew with a leading airline provides employees with exposure to not only a professional working environment, but also varied cultures across the globe, said All India Institute of Aeronautics (AIIA), Dehradun, director Jitender Chauhan on Monday. Civil aviation courses are meant for those who want to make their career in Government or regulatory bodies of aviation or those planning to work as aviation consultants. To pursue a successful career in the aviation industry, one should have a hospitable and pleasing personality. Air hostesses should be well skilled in customer relations as how to deal with the passengers, he added.

Chauhan said that various facilities provided at AIIA, Dehradun, coupled with the individual attention to each student help bring about multidimensional personality growth and put students on the path of success.

“We offer courses like commercial pilot licence; flight dispatcher; cabin crew and hospitality management (air hostess/flight steward); airport management; BBA (aviation, hospitality and tourism/flying); MBA (aviation). Programmes like master of tourism management, bachelor of tourism studies and diploma in tourism studies and diploma in tour guiding and escorting skills are offered here under Uttarakhand Open University. Candidates can enroll themselves for these courses by September 15, this year. We spare no efforts to create and maintain high standard of learning environment,” he added.

The courses are carefully structured mix of classroom sessions and computer based training, personalised attention is given to each student to ensure that no student lags behind. The institute invites leading and experienced personalities from aviation field for guest lectures to ensure the best possible exposure of the industry to the students.

“Institute aims at helping the students for their all round development. Special career oriented presentations, group discussions and soft skills development sessions are also held. We also provide audio and video presentations that can help the candidates in their job prospects,” the director added.

“In the institute, our endeavour is to bestow students with finer qualities such as morality, truthfulness, patriotism and spirit of healthy completion. Nurturing professional skills and character building traits go a long way in lifting students' composite personality to a mach higher plane,” he said, while adding, “We

continuously strive for

excellence not only in imparting high-class education but also in upgrading our facilities by way of creating effective resources and environment. Students passing out from our institute are able to create a niche for themselves which others find hard to match,” he said.

The director further said that working in an airline makes the candidates eligible for many job perks such as tax free salaries, life and accident insurance, annual confirmed tickets to their home country, comprehensive medical services, end of service benefits and many more.

The institute conducts English communication and personality development sessions without any extra charges, as in today's life effective communication has become an important and useful tool to climb the ladder of success.

The institute students have been selected as air hostesses, flight stewards, ground hostesses, ground crews, flight operational officers and pilots in reputed domestic and international airlines.

According to him, nowadays the hospitality/travel and tourism industry has an aura of glamour and excitement around it. The aviation industry is progressing fast in India with privatisation and foreign collaboration increasing day by day due to open sky policy of Government of India and approval of 49 per cent FDI in aviation. Allowing 49 per cent stake to foreign airlines will create access to capital, global connectivity, technology and best practices.

This could lead to establishment of new airlines in India and perhaps, change in ownership structure of certain Indian carriers. Increased competition among airlines would lead to better offers, greater efficiency, cheaper airfares and more power to the passenger. There is an endless demand for air hostess/flight stewards and tourism professionals to meet the growing requirement and it will increase by the day, he added.

According to Chauhan, the Uttar Pradesh Government is set to start in an intra state scheduled airlines service. A proposal to this effect has recently been prepared by state tourism development which is to be placed before the cabinet shortly. The service is already in place in Madhya Pradesh where five districts are connected by small nine -seater planes while several States including Gujarat, Uttarakhand Odisha and Karnataka are also working on plan to launch it soon. Giving a big boost to the aviation sector, the Government has cleared wide ranging policy aimed at creating international and regional aviation hubs in the country.

AIIA runs under the aegis of Jay Educational Society registered under society registration Act 21, 1860 approved by government of Uttarakhand with excellent track record since 2005. An authorised study centre for distance learning aviation courses of UGC recognised universities and approved by Uttarakhand Open University, Government of Uttarakhand. Only institute in the region offering BBA in aviation/flying, MBA-aviation subjects from a UGC recognised University.

The Jay Educational Society has come into existence for improving the standard of Aeronautical education which has vast scope in India and abroad as far as a good career option is concerned.
