The Uttarakhand Contractual Agriculture Assistant Union (UCAAU) called off its strike after receiving an assurance on its demands from the State Agriculture Minister Harak Singh Rawat on Thursday. A delegation of UCAAU members met the Minister Rawat and put forth their two-point charter of demands —hike in their monthly salary and Government job.
Subsequently, on the direction of Rawat, Parliamentary Secretaries Subodh Uniyal and Raj Kumar reached the protest site and conveyed the Minister’s assurance regarding their grievances. After receiving the assurance from the Minister, the agitators decided to call off their strike. Protesters present on the occasion were Kuldeep negi, Kalawati Bisth, Arjun Chauhan, RD Kapur, Kailash Chandra Juyal, Babita Rana, Suresh Chauhan, Virendra Rawat, Khajan Singh and others.
