Uttarakhand continues to be on forefront when it comes to send its men to serve in the armed forces of the country.  Forty young men from this small predominately mountainous State would become officers in the Indian Army after the POP of spring term 2017 on Saturday.

A total of 423 Gentlemen Cadets (GCs) belonging to 140 Regular Course, 123 Technical Graduate Course (TGC) and 25 University Entry Scheme (UES) become proud officers of Indian army on Saturday when they step on the Antim Pag (last step) of the Academy after the Passing out Parade (POP).

Uttar Pradesh with 74 GCs leads the table of State wise representation of GCs. Another small State Haryana with 49 officers is at second place among the list of young officers.

The Himalayan State of Uttarakhand is third in the list with a contribution of 40 GCs. Rajasthan with 30, Bihar with 28, Maharashtra with 24 and Delhi with 23 GC are some of other the big contributors.

Incidentally Madhya Pradesh the second biggest state of India would contribute only 13 GCs in the passing out contingent of officers. Another big state Andhra Pradesh (AP) would be sending only seven officers.

The disinterest of the people of Gujarat in serving in the armed forces is clearly evident as this time also as only three GCs are from this state. The States of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand which were created along with Uttarakhand in the year 2000 also has less representation with only two and five GC this time, despite being much bigger in area and population than Uttarakhand.

The IMA would be sending its biggest batch of Sixty seven Foreign Gentlemen Cadets (FGCs) from ten friendly nations in the summer term 2017. From Afghanistan 48 FGC would be passing out making it the largest contingent while eight FGC would be from Tajikistan. Apart from them FGCs from Bhutan, Fiji, Kyrgyzstan, lesotho, Papua New Guinea, Sudan, Tanzania and Togna would also be the part of proud passing out contingent.
