To make the Government hospitals more accountable through reviving up facilities, the State Government has decided to implement things on the ground promptly. Earlier, the Government employees used to throng private facilities for medical treatment and later seek reimbursement from the Government. Before reimbursing the bills, the medical expense department used to send the files to Doon Hospital for verification.
Now, with the Doon Hospital having become Doon Medical College, it cannot refer patients from one college to another-Sri Mahant Inderesh Hospital and HIHT, Jollygrant. From now onwards, the employees will have to get reference for themselves and their families from the Government hospital after which the DMC will countersign the reimbursement bills. However, the accidental cases have been excluded. From now on, the DMC will refer the patients to higher centres like PGI Chandigarh or AIIMs, Delhi alone .
